At the center of "Decomposition" is light - a concentrated, molten core that neither explodes nor collapses, but simply radiates. From it, Anania Kocharyan builds an entire cosmos: swirling passages of deep cobalt, violet, forest green, and burnt sienna that spiral outward before dissolving into near-black at the edges. The surface is layered and atmospheric, somewhere between a nebula and a slow combustion.
The title invites a philosophical reading. Decomposition is not destruction - it is transformation, the breaking apart of one state into the elements of another. Kocharyan makes this process visible, even beautiful. What appears turbulent on closer inspection reveals itself as deeply ordered: the movement always returns to that central glow, as if the entire canvas is organized around a single point of origin.
At 95×95 cm, the work commands space. It is the kind of painting that changes with the light of the room and the distance of the viewer — abstract from a step back, intimate and textured up close.
